The main aim of the Regional Patent Information Centre is ensure all interested users free access to patent information.
To carry out the main aim, we will adopt the following actions:
Acquisition, cataloguing, circulation patent documentation and literature on traditional and electronic media.
Provide information on IP procedures, different kinds of IP rights, the requirements for filing an IP application, fees, search possibilities, etc. Legal advice is not included in this service;
Cooperation with other PATLIB Centres, European Patent Office, Patent Office of the Republic of Poland and other institutions involved with protection of industrial property.
Organizing training sessions (seminars, workshops) concerning IP rights, databases, search techniques and other IP related issues.
Participate in IP seminars and courses organised by EPO, Patent Office RP and other institutions.

The fifties. The agreement between these institutions in the range of free transfer of Polish patents from the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland to the Main Library of University of Mining and Metallurgy.

Closer cooperation between these institutions in the range of free transfer from the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland to the Library of University of Mining and Metallurgy: Polish patents, the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland own official publications, such as "Communications of the Patent Office" and "Bulletin of the Patent Office" and full-text databases on CD: Espace-World, Espace-Access (A), Espace-Preces.
(30.07.1992 - Cooperation agreement between the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland and the Main Library of University of Mining and Metallurgy. Patent Information Centre was placed within the structures of the Main Library.)
01.03.2004, Republic of Poland joins The European Patent Convention (EPC). All patent information centers existing in Poland have become part of a network PATLIB.
PATLIB, short for PATent LIBrary it is a network, which gathers all national patent offices in the Member States and patent information centers.
Across the Europe, there are about 300 such points that provide local access to patent information. AGH UST Patent Information Centre in Cracow, is one of 27 centers operating in Republic of Poland.
31.01.2005, New agreement about cooperation between the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland and the Main Library of University of Science and Technology. In the repercussion of this agreement Regional Patent Information Centre was opened within the structure of the Main Library of AGH UST.
20.11.2006, Seminary in Cracow "Patents and technology transfer".
